Tadeau Jungle – EVOÉ – Portrait of an Anthropophagus (Brazil, 2011)
90 minutes | Segal Theatre
Portugese with English Subtitles
A film like a labyrinth, created from recent interviews and historical images about the career of director, actor, and playwright Zé Celso, of the Oficina Theater–one of the greatest artistic personalities in the history of Brazil.
Set in an unspecific time and without didactic lessons, the film is a powerful flow of images and sounds that leave the spectator in a state of constant attention, ending in a state of grace.
Brazilian Film, TV and Virtual Reality director and screenwriter, Tadeu Jungle has created and directed one feature length fiction film, two documentaries, several video art projects, and many successful TV shows. He is a partner of the film production company Academia de Filmes where he directed more than 500 commercials. His recently published book, Videophotopoetry portrays his thirty years of artistic activities. River of Mud is his most recent film, a short documentary in Virtual Reality that shows what is left in a small village after the worst environmental disaster in Brazil. Tadeu Jungle writes for newspapers and magazines about video and television.
