Kagura: Shinto Temple Dance from Early Japan with Miho Takayasu (Japan)

In early Shinto religious festivals, performers of the Japanese temple dance Kagura channeled the divine feminine spirit to her worshippers. A form as ancient as the religious origin story of all performance in Japan—the ecstatic dancing of the goddess Ame-no-Uzume—Kagura is said to predate and influence Noh theatre.
