Join us for an evening celebrating the new 2020 publication Machine Made Silence—The Art of Kris Verdonck, published by Richard Gough’s Performance Research Books in the UK. Rich in images, the book also includes drawings and sketches, opening up the creative process. Looking at the work of Kris Verdonck, tensions come to the fore between humans and machines, between life and death, between the now and the end, between visual arts and performing arts, between something and nothing. With a preface by Guy Gypens and texts by Edward Scheer, Charlotte De Somviele, Marianne Van Kerkhoven,
Sarah Lucie, Frank Hentschker
and others.

Kris Verdonck studied visual arts, architecture and theatre and this training is evident in his work. His creations are positioned in the transit zone between visual arts and theatre, between installation and performance, between dance and architecture. www.atwodogscompany.org/en

Kristof van Baarle is a dramaturge and researcher. Currently he is a post-doctoral researcher at Antwerp University, where he also teaches dramaturgy. Together with Kris Verdonck, he conducts a three-year research project on the convergences between Samuel Beckett and Noh-theatre.

Peter Eckersall is a Professor of Theatre at The Graduate Center CUNY.
